BioBurn Pros is proud to announce that we have received official approval from Indigenous Services Canada to commence work with the Sipekne’katik (Indian Brook) First Nation on their Wildfire Resiliency and Community Protection Plan.
This is more than a project milestone. It is the beginning of a meaningful, collaborative effort rooted in shared values, community trust, and a long-term commitment to protecting people and the land they call home.
A Partnership Built on Shared Values
Phase One of this work is grounded in something deeper than a contract. The project has been shaped by the principle of stewardship — caring for the land not just for today, but for the generations that follow. That guiding philosophy, rooted in the Seven Generations principle, aligns closely with how BioBurn Pros approaches every community we work with.
The plan itself was developed through many hours of collaboration between our team and the community’s Emergency Management Office, led by Jamie Lee Gehue. Together, we worked to design an approach to wildfire risk reduction that is practical, culturally respectful, and driven by the community’s own priorities.
What This Work Involves
Wildfire resiliency is not a one-size-fits-all solution. For the Sipekne’katik First Nation, this means building a protection plan that reflects the unique geography, values, and needs of the community. Our role is to bring proven expertise in wildfire fuel management and debris remediation while listening carefully to the people who know this land best.
The goal is to strengthen long-term resilience — reducing the risk of wildfire, protecting homes and infrastructure, and supporting a healthier, safer environment for community members now and in the future.
